Watch Man City v. Chelsea in the Community Shield in Portland, Oregon on Sunday, August 5th at 7AM
Join us for the Community Shield match between Chelsea and Manchester City at 7 AM on Sunday, August 5th. (Door at 6:30 AM) First held 96 years ago, the FA Community Shield puts the winner of the FA Cup (Chelsea) against the winner of the Premier League (Man City) (or the Football League as it was called before 1992.)
This match may answer a few pressing questions:
Will Eden Hazard really stay at Chelsea this year? The word is that he will stay and become the captain. Hopefully this is what Hazard wants... because a happy Hazard is essential for a well playing Hazard.
Does Sarri, the new coach of Chelsea rate Willian or is he really going to let Willian go to Man United? The bookies think Willian is out the door. (Sounds of Chelsea fans yelling NOOOOOOO!)
Will Pep play Ederson or is there a second string goalie he wants to highlight? Is he simply making Joe Hart happy in pre season, or does Hart have a chance to play this year?
Will Mahrez’s ankle, injured against Bayern Munich, be strong enough for him to play? And while we are on the topic of Mahrez. Where the heck is he going to play in Pep’s line up? As Toffee fan and photographer Arian Hormozi noted, "Sterling might have to finish a few more of his shots if he wants to keep his place.” Intriguing.
And finally, what will we learn about Leroy Sane? Pep seemed out of sorts with Sane. He notes in this SkySports article, ""He needs more minutes and he needs to regain his principles in terms of playing without the ball. He has the talent to do that and we are happy that he scored. Still, he is far away from his best.”” Ouch.
We hope you will join us for the Chelsea v. Man City Community Shield and come back for the opening match of the Premier League on Friday August 10th at noon between Manchester United and Leicester.
We will then show the Thorns FC v. North Carolina Courage at 3PM on all screens at the Toffee, so bring a crowd!
