Saturday Soccer at the Toffee Club in Portland, Oregon. Rooney Style.
We are the only football pub in Portland where you can order under a giant paper mache Rooney! Here's our schedule for Saturday, August 10th at the Toffee Club. We open a half hour before all early matches.
Premier League Preview
7am Huddersfield vs Chelsea – Bar screens. Sarri says Hazard is staying and the new goalie Arrizabalaga is ready for the challenge of replacing Courtois. Wonder what name he will use on the back of his jersey? Huddersfield, a team in Yorkshire hope to continue their run in the Premier League. David Wagner did a great job last year and let's hope their success continues. The Premier League needs the northern teams to give the teams of the south some competition!
7am Fulham vs Crystal Palace - Clubhouse. Fulham owner Shahid Khan (who also owns the NFL Jaguars) had to wait a few years to see his team back in the Premier League. We're happy as watching games from Craven Cottage is one of the best fan experiences in football. Fulham are the first promoted team to spend more than a 100 million pounds in the transfer window. Wow. To the relief of many. Crystal Palace stayed up! With Zaha still on board, we hope they do well this year as they play an exciting brand of football.
7am Watford vs Brighton - Side screen Watford just keeps on keeping on. They lost Richardson to Everton, but hope that Garcia can fill the gap. They also have Ben Foster and Gerard Deulofeu this year. Brighton! Chris Houghton works miracles. With a budget much, much less than the big boys, the stunning AmEx stadium and loyal fans, let's see what they can do this year. Here's a throwback article where owner Tony Bloom talks about surviving in the Premier League after promotion.
9.30am Wolves vs Everton – All screens. The Wolverhampton Wanderers F.C are back! We are quite keen on Conor Coady here at the Toffee and look forward to seeing how the team does in its first year back up since 2012. Considering we are called the Toffee Club, the fate of Everton is of great importance to us. Everton has spent around $500 million in the past three transfer windows and let's hope the current signings of Yerry Mina, Bernard and André Gomes energize the team. . Interestingly, notes Pete, our resident Toffee fan, "Bernard was free and a lot of talk is about how the young England stars from the U17 and U20 teams can fit into team this season. Look for Kieran Dowell, Lookman and Calvert Lewin. Zouma has now been confirmed as well."
We will also show the following matches and hope you will join us for some international and then more local soccer!
12.05pm Atletico Madrid vs Internazionale - All screens
4.30pm Orlando Pride vs Thorns FC - Clubhouse
8pm Timbers FC vs Vancouver - All screens
Cheers, Team Toffee
