A note from our kitchen…
If you're looking for a truly different breakfast experience in Portland, Oregon, join us for a breakfast pie!
“The Toffee Club’s breakfast pies are a twist on traditional British fare”, says Head Chef David Carbo. “Our breakfast pies are unlike anything you will find in other Portland brunch spots. They’re a truly unique option and a must try.”
Every Saturday and Sunday. we offer three signature breakfast pies until 1pm. All are created with a base of potatoes, egg and cheese, and topped off with our puff pastry from LBA, a family-run bakery in Seattle. All pies are assembled and baked to order, so expect them to arrive at your table fresh and steaming.
Our pies are paired with a side of Heinz Baked Beans or house-made southern-style white gravy.
The "Gazza" is inspired by English football legend Paul Gascoigne. A Newcastle native, Gazza joined Newcastle United in 1985 and went on to play for various teams including Tottenham, Lazio, Rangers and Everton. During his career, the naturally skillful midfielder earned 57 international matches (caps) and represented England in two World Cups. Gascoigne’s charm captured the hearts of an entire generation of football-lovers and his legacy lives on.
The Gazza is our top-scoring brunch pie, and it’s easy to see why… this legendary pie is layered with Heinz Baked Beans (shipped all the way from England) and house-seasoned pork sausage.
The “Campos” pays homage to Mexican goalkeeper Jorge Campos. Campos was a notable player for Mexico in the 1990s and early 2000s. He is known for his bombastic “sweeper keeper” playing style and vibrant play attire. and continual playing outside of the penalty area as a sweeper-keeper.
In honor of this vivacious legend, Toffee Club fans love this goal-winning chorizo breakfast pie. Our Campos Pie consists of diced pork tenderloin and chorizo sausage sourced by Nicky Farms, that is cooked slowly for 1 ½ hours with black beans and red onions, jalapenos, tomatoes, red peppers from local supplier Duck Produce.
The “Valeri” is named after Argentinian player Diego Valeri, one of Portland’s beloved Timbers’ star attackers. Valeri has led the Timbers into many victories including the Western Conference Final and MLS Cup. Just last year, Valeri hit new records for the Timbers as he became the eighteenth player in league history to have scored at least 50 goals and 50 assists. He broke MLS records for consecutive matches with the highest number of goals scored as a midfielder.
The Valeri, our vegetarian breakfast pie, will win a place in your heart with every bite. Our veggie mix features roasted leeks mixed with carrots, celery, red onions and portobello mushrooms from local provider Duck Produce. The vegetables are cooked down with olive oil, fresh thyme and sage, spices and heavy cream.
Toffee Club brunch is served from 7 AM - 1 PM on Saturday and 8 Am to 1 PM on Sundays.
We hope you will join us and enjoy one of our signature pies for brunch soon! Our pies pair perfectly with a delicious pint of one of our imported ales - Fullers London Pride, Guinness Irish Stout or Old Speckled Hen.
Cheers from Kathy, baker, recipe creator and cook.
