A Thank You to the Female Reporters who Celebrated the World Cup with us!
We can’t believe it’s already nearly a month since the 2019 World Cup final, it seems like just yesterday that we were cheering on some of the greatest athletes in the world.
As the 2019 World Cup ran through its thirty days, we were amazed by the incredible stories of perseverance and hard work that made the tournament so successful. To achieve such success it takes everyone from the training staff, stadium attendants, security and reporters.
One group that made our second Toffee Club World Cup successful were the local reporters who came for every USA game, braved the crowds and showcased the voices of some of the most dedicated fans in Portland.
Today we want to highlight some of these amazing women for the work they do in their field.
Ashley Young – University of Oregon graduate with a Bachelors in Applied Science School of Journalism and Communications, Ashley is now a Multimedia Producer and Sports Journalist for NBC Sports Northwest.
Lindsey Wisniewski – Arizona State University graduate with a Masters of Arts in Sports Journalism, Lindsey is now a Multi-Platform Coordinator for NBC Sports.
You can find advice from both Ashley and Lindsey on a career in journalism in this article by University of Oregon and you can see some of the footage that Ashley and Lindsey captured at the Toffee Club here and here.
Spencer Wehde – Oklahoma University graduate with a degree in Broadcast and Electronic Media, Spencer is now a Senior Production Specialist at Banner Collective.
If you follow the USWNT, some of the great videos US Soccer put out were part of Spencer’s work, including American Made: Portland.
Ashley, Lindsey and Spencer, the passion you have for your work is inspiring for us all.
Keep it up, ladies!
