Welcome to the 2019-2020 Premier League at the Toffee Club
As we start our countdown to the 2019 Premier League we speak to Toffee Club owner and life-long Everton supporter Pete Hoppins about his top five things to watch for the season.
Pulisic at Chelsea. I'm fascinated to see how Christian Pulisic does at Chelsea this season. Considered to be the key world class player in the USMNT squad, Chelsea are going to need him to step up to the levels of the EPL if they have any chance of replacing Eden Hazard and remaining in the top four.
Aston Villa spend the $$$$. After spending over $100 million this transfer window already, will Villa do a Fulham or a Wolves? Back in the Premier League after a short hiatus, and newly minted they aren't shy of showing their ambition. If they can surround the talented Jack Grealish with better players and some larger shin guards then they might have a chance.
Can anyone catch Liverpool and Manchester City? I'm looking at you Spurs! Despite falling short the last few seasons, Tottenham have been consistently punching above their weight. If they can just add a few more quality players to their rather thin squad they might be able to make the top 2 into a top 3.
Solskjaer first manager to be sacked. I'm calling it early, the first manager to be fired will be Ole Gunnar Solskaer.... Or Uni Emery......or wait Steve Bruce is the manager at Newcastle United?! That definitely won't last long, Mike Ashley might want to have Big Sam's phone number on speed dial.
Who will win the Everton cup? For those who don't know, that's the made up trophy for finishing seventh in the league. Not good enough to get into the top 6 and claim a European spot but better than the rest. This season could get more interesting though with Wolves, Leicester and Watford hoping to push on and the likes of Man United, Arsenal and Chelsea all in rebuilding phases. The top half of the league looks to be a lot more exciting than the past few seasons.
Looking forward to seeing how this all shakes out!
