Our wonderfully unique Toffee League jerseys were recently profiled by Urban Pitch, a website dedicated to street football and the art and music so closely intertwined with today's soccer culture. Writer Patricia Sanchez offers a behind the scenes look at our team-designed Avery Dennison Toffee League jerseys and what each design meant to the team. She writes,
"Much like the city of Portland itself, the Avery Dennison Toffee League is delightfully unique, focused on community and creativity rather than winning and losing. Perhaps the most obvious example of this is the eye-catching collection of jerseys designed by each team."
Sanchez spoke to three captains of the Toffee League to learn the inspiration behind their jersey designs and their favorite memories about the culture of the league.
Blakely Dadson of KALT FC says it best, "If your colors are dope, then you’re dope."
More about Patricia Sanchez
Patricia Sanchez often explores the design side of the soccer world. Her recent article about the Saturdays Football clothing line tells the story of how the brand is rooted in the culture of Saturday being the key day for football, whether you're watching, playing or planning.
She recently wrote about the great work Street Soccer USA does with the Lady Salamanders, giving women facing loss of housing, abuse and addiction a place to be part of a football family, building confidence and purpose through the sport.
Thanks to Patricia from all of us at The Toffee Club for sharing stories that are artistic and inspirational.
